Mikey Ureta, 19, started dancing in 2008 after watching “Into the Hoods,” a hip-hop musical that inspired him to get into dancing. He considers his four groupmates in Boyband as his biggest dance influence.
Mikey is considered to be the big brother of Boyband, taking care of the other members and planning their choreography. All members are students in London, according to an article on Mirror.
Recently, the group received the much-coveted Golden Buzzer on “Britain’s Got Talent” after wowing the audience with their spectacular dance moves.
The Golden Buzzer gives the judges and hosts the chance to send one act each automatically through to the live semi-finals.
In an article on Digital Spy, Mikey said the group wanted to go into the semi-finals with “positive vibes” and “riskier tricks” to win over the crowd and judges.
His co-member Corey told the judges that the group was inspired by matinee idols such as Backstreet Boys and One Direction, the hit boy group created by “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell in the singing competition X-Factor.
Boyband first came into the attention of the public after a stint at the finals of the talent show “Got To Dance.”
Boyband will appear on the semi-finals of “Britain’s Got Talent” from May 26 to May 31, British time. If they succeed, they will compete for the chance to perform in front of the British Royal Family at the Royal Variety Performance at the finals on June 1.
